Outl<->Android Sync creates 10+ calenders for each category

I am using Outlook<->Android Sync for syncing Outlook calendar to Android phone.
I use a couple of categories for Outlook appointments. After sync these DO appear as "calendars to show" with the appropriate colour in the settings of the calendar app.
-> However each calendar is repeated tenfolds of times WITHOUT COLOUR in this "to show" list. I have to check them all in order to see all appointments. But they show WITHOUT the category colour.
This suggests a seperate calendar is created for EACH appointment (named after its category)! But the colour is maintained for any first category occurence only.
Not only do I have to check 100+ calendars to get them shown, but effectively there is no category/calender colour present.
I tried this from 2 different PC's with same result.
PC
1) Windows XP SP3 / Outlook 2003 / Outlook<->Android Sync 1.2*
2) Windows 7 Ultimate 64b / Outlook Professional Plus 2010 / Outlook<->Android Sync 1.2*
* settings: pst file, WiFi, 1-way: Outlook -> Android, Data: Calendar (only)
Android
ics 4.0.4 / Outlook<->Android Sync 1.3.4
Please help.
