No outlook installation detected

Post by mtruitt »

After installing Outlook-Android Sync on a new computer I am getting an error each time I try to launch it. The error indicates it cannot find the Outlook installation and suggestions I try the 64 bit version. I am running 32 bit outlook on 64 bit windows 10. I tried both versions of the O-A Sync software and still get the error. I also disabled my antivirus, but with the same results.

Any suggestions?

And you have the latest version of OAS, which is 3.1? Also, what's the error message that the 64-bit version of the app gives you?

I just downloaded v3.1. It won't recognize my outlook. It says no outlook detected. I have Outlook 2016 in Office 365 open. I tried both 64 bit and 32 bit, same message. I really want to get this to work. What do I do next? Please respond.

mtruitt, please get the latest version, which is 3.1 at the moment. Will it make any difference?

jimglinsky, is Outlook 2016 installed on your PC? What's its edition (32 or 64-bit one)?

I am using 3.1 on the desktop. My phone has 3.0.1 but that shouldn't matter

Unfortunately, it is very difficult to say why it is so in this particular case. A re-installation of Outlook may help, though I am not sure if that's a viable way out for you.

Ok, so it's probably not going to work. Can I get a refund on my purchase of this app?

Hi, Exact the same problem here with Office 2019. Also I am not suprised it cannot find the outlook installation. Cannot find the regular installation folder myself. I other words there is not an office folder under c:/program files of c:/program files (x86).

Most likely you cannot see the installation folder as it's hidden in the system and you need to enable the "Show hidden files" option in Explorer. But OAS doesn't need the path, it works with Outlook via MAPI (a proprietary special protocol), which works fine on our side for Outlook 2019. Will double check what could be wrong here.. Thanks!

Hi, I've the same problem. This is a new PC (dell), windows 10 and Office 2019.
Do you have a solution about that?
Thanks!

Could you please attach a picture of the error message to your next post? Please also mention whether that's a 32-bit or 64-bit version of Outlook. Thanks!
